Thank you, Lord, for not rationing your wisdom when I seek it. You always give more than I ask.


Catholic Schools Week begins this Sunday, January 25th until Friday, January 30th. The theme this year is

“Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.”

· Sunday, January 25th: Kick-Off Mass at 11am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. All scholars, families, faculty and staff are asked to attend. Scholars are asked to wear their regular school uniform. Those scholars will be able to observe an Out of Uniform Day at a later date. (Parent Volunteers are needed with sessions beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m.)

· Monday, January 26th: Rep Your College Day!

Everyone is allowed to represent their favorite college by wearing college/university’s apparel, such as a jersey, sweatshirt, t-shirt, etc. sweater with a pair of appropriate slacks.

· Tuesday, January 27th: Volunteer Appreciation Day Breakfast

Volunteers will be cooked a hearty breakfast and served at 9:00 a.m. (Volunteers needed to report at 8:00 a.m.)

*Several scholars will be attending the Catholic Schools Week Mass being held at 10am at the Cathedral of St. Peter and Chains.

· Wednesday, January 28th: Student Appreciation Day! Students are allowed to wear appropriate school spirit wear. The faculty and staff will provide a movie and popcorn. Volunteers are needed for extra supervision.

· Friday, January 30th: Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day. We will have a kick ball game amongst the teachers. ( Volunteers are needed for extra supervision.)

· COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT FOR ALL: We are asking for non-perishable food or personal care items to send to our St. Joseph Pantry and St. Vincent De Paul Society. The most needed items are listed below:

Peanut Butter Cereal

Canned Protein (such as tuna or chicken)

“Meals-in-a-Can,” (Ravioli, Beef Stew, etc.)

Canned Fruit

Bar Soap Shampoo & Conditioner

Razors Feminine hygiene products


Deodorant Diapers


PTO will be hosting a skating party at The Fun Factory on Friday, January 30 from 5 to 7:30pm. The cost is $6 and includes, admission, skate rental and all-you-can-eat pizza. We are inviting all to attend this event to end our Catholic Schools Week Celebration!


Last Wednesday, Squash had their first induction ceremony for students chosen to be a part of the team. They enrolled nine 5th graders and two 4th graders! CONGRATULATIONS!

Registration for the 2015-2016 school year has begun for scholars returning to St. Joseph Catholic School! Registration forms were sent home last week. We are requesting that all forms be turned in by January 30th to ensure your child(ren)’s space. Please DO NOT wait until the last minute to register as Open Enrollment will begin February 1, 2015. Parents/Guardians, would you like to build partnership with your home and school? Mark your calendar for 8-Tuesdays, beginning March 10, from 6-7:30pm for sessions that will help you do just that! Free childcare will be provided and a free light dinner for your family will be served from 5:30-6pm. NO EXCUSES!!! Look for your green flyer that will be sent to your home and return the lower portion to confirm your participation. See you then!

The Oakley Recreation Center is offering Spanish classes for children. The preferred age range is 4-8 years old, but others are welcome.
